CHANGING THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORT REFRIGERATION

Silent running and zero carbon emissions as ecoFridge comes to the UK
ecoFridge, the first transport refrigeration system to operate in complete silence with no moving parts, no harmful emissions and absolutely no noise is now available in the UK.

The system provides the same benefits as a diesel run unit, but offers much more. It costs up to 30% less to run, it can achieve pulldown to set temperature 70-80% faster and it is virtually maintenance free. Added to this, it will not top freeze and for multi-temperature applications it requires half the investment cost of a mechanical system.

With the effects of climate change featuring heavily in the headlines the development and promotion of cleaner energy and transport technology has become of utmost importance. Noise pollution too, is a major issue particularly for people in residential neighbourhoods who endure the sound of vehicles delivering to retail locations at all hours of the night.

The ecoFridge refrigeration system from Ukram Industries addresses both of these concerns and is set to revolutionise how temperature-sensitive goods are transported around the world.

With a great deal of early interest being shown by retailers and operators in the UK and Europe, many are already keen to pursue the environmental and commercial benefits of ecoFridge.

HARMLESS TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Fundamentally different from mechanical refrigeration systems, ecoFridge is Nitrogen powered making it completely harmless to the environment. It enables transporters of temperature sensitive cargoes to play their part in tackling climate change by eliminating emissions and greatly reducing energy use.

In March 2006, ecoFridge received EU certification as an acceptable alternative refrigeration system meeting all the EU requirements for the refrigeration of frozen and refrigerated products. The EU is limiting the use of HFCs in refrigeration systems and will enforce a complete ban from 2015 in line with the Kyoto Protocol, forcing companies to look for new solutions.  Currently, there are no alternative transport cooling systems other than ecoFridge that meet these regulations.

SILENT RUNNING
ecoFridge has already been recognised for its silent operation by the Noise Abatement Society (NAS) which encourages companies to help protect the environment from noise pollution. Last year they presented Ukram with the John Connell Technology Award 2006.

The secret behind the silent running is the absence of any moving parts within the cooling system, combined with the fact that, unlike traditional systems, it does not require a mechanical engine.

NAS trustee Gloria Elliot described ecoFridge as a fantastic step forward: "It solves the problem of delivering refrigerated goods to supermarkets at night, which is currently banned due to the high noise pollution of traditional refrigerated trailers," she said. "With the ecoFridge system, we can combine the growing necessity for a 24h delivery of goods and at the same time reap the environmental benefits!”
